USAID Wildlife Asia Pangolin Care Workshop

USAID Wildlife Asia will host a Pangolin Care Workshop designed to improve survival rates of confiscated live pangolins at the Wildlife Quarantine Centre (WQC) in Thailand.

Veterinarians and staff at the Centre would learn how to care for and rehabilitate confiscated live pangolins so they can be released back into the wild.  The Pangolin Care  Workshop will be a three-day event covering the following topics: Introduction to Pangolins; overview of pangolin trafficking; evaluating and monitoring health of confiscated pangolins; transporting pangolins to the WQC; recommended enclosure set-up; enrichment; dietary and feeding requirements; methods for encouraging pangolins to eat; procuring the proper insectivorous diet in a captive setting; steps to rehabilitation; evaluating pangolins for release; pangolin release protocols. The workshops will include a one-day site visit at the WQC.
